Dear Pastor, Church, and All Supporters,
Ro 15:22 ¶
For which cause also I have been much hindered from coming to you.
Ro 15:23 But now having no more place in these parts, and having a great desire these many years to come unto you;
Ro 15:24 Whensoever I take my journey into Spain, I will come to you: for I trust to see you in my journey, and to be brought on my way thitherward by you, if first I be somewhat filled with your company.
Ro 15:25 But now I go unto Jerusalem to minister unto the saints.
Having lived in both worlds (that of the developed, i.e., of the children of Japheth) and the world of (the children of Ham), I understand the task and difficulty of travel such as is on a Biblical scale.
I know what it is to be able to cross the oceans by air, the rivers by canoe, to drive the eight lane motorways of the USA covering eight hundred to one thousand miles in a single day and I know what it means to drive the bush roads in PNG, covering two hundred miles in twelve hours.
I want to update all of you with regards to what I feel the LORD is doing, and NOT doing, at least in my little life.
There is a query I would like the reader to ask themselves, (who is it, that controls your steps?) most of us would agree it is the LORD… (Psalms 37:23) “The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and he delighteth in his way.”
I find (most) Christians, believe this in (theory), GOD’S people are slow in learning two things, that it is the LORD who controls, and directs the (steps, but also the stops!) in our lives. Reread the verses given above and explain to me, how it was that Paul was hindered?
I spent considerable time and money to reach the USA last year, many I have shared the story, will not repeat only to say, when the LORD wants you somewhere, HE it will open that door and no government, no sickness, no demon, and not even Satan will detain you!! That is Bible, end of Story!
People are people no matter what generation or country they live in, the common issue of life plague all nations and individuals. It is only the most matured children of GOD who are not distracted, or moved by events of the world, rather their compass is set to (True North).
I have said all that to say this, I never intended nor planned to stay this long in the USA, however, my steps again are (ordered by The LORD)! I have spent considerable time in reaching churches, supporters, preaching, holding meetings, going where invited, passing by where not welcomed!
In six- months’ time, I have driven over 42,000 miles, not on holiday, or (vacation time as you call it here) rather doing the LORD’S work. Just because I am not in PNG, or Malawi, or another country, does not mean I am not on the mission field, (this becomes the mission field here) whilst I am here.
Different people have different ideas about this (virus) going around, Satan inspired, and used to even divide GOD’S people. International travel has severely been affected and restricted by this. Government rulings cannot be thwarted; however, an individual may make their own decision.
There are demanding needs for me to put boots on ground in Malawi and Mozambique due to problems in the mission work, however with the compulsory measures by the Malawian government, I do not feel I can comply to their demands; therefore, I am delayed in going there.
Secondly, PNG followed suite with Australia and had the country on lock-down, no one in or out for the past months. Recently I was sent from the Prime Minister’s office, an update to the Pandemic rulings for PNG. The borders have been re-opened and measures are being put into place to allow international travel.
My pastor and home church know exactly where I am at and what I am doing, as I communicate frequently regarding my status and developing plans. I try to keep you the supporter up to date on events surrounding my life and mission work.
The current status is I have plans (my plans) to be in PNG by April, with the time drawing near, I have much to prepare and do, I will keep all of you updated as time and opportunity permits
I ask simply for your prayers, that the LORD will order my steps, and that I will remain in HIS will, not mine, and NOT yours!
In His Name,
Missionary Peter Halliman
