Dear Pastor, Church, & All Supporters:

John 16:12 I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now.

I understand the narrative of the above verse, yet there is a sense of truth in that with the mission reports, often times, I muse over what I feel would be perinate to (you) the reader, supporter. Many things could be said, however, unless I find the time to break up the mission reports during the month, it becomes too much at one setting (for some). For the older generation, those who read letters, who wrote letters, those who learned to read books, these mission reports are simply a few moments of time.

The month of July, I had started teaching in the Bible Academy on the 27th of May, the schedule was set for five days a week, seven to eight hours per day teaching. The teaching is enough, add to that, translation of material from one language to another, type it out, critique the grammar. Most if not all bible teaching institutions around the developed world, have prepared material, here the material is the Bible, study, prepare the lessons and teach. Every two weeks on their Friday, the students would sit for their examinations over the lessons that had been taught. These examinations have to be put together, printed and copies made for each student.

I started the school with thirty-five students, three students dropped out for personal reasons, death in the village and other reasons. I would like to share with you the outreach that this school touches, there are thirty-two students that have remained, the number of church members surrounding the churches represented within those pastor students present would rise above three thousand people. This in no way touches the number of unbelievers that attend the churches where these pastors serve. Being tribal people, (unlike) developed countries, tribal people are communal, a tight knit network of families, clans, and finally the tribe.

Many unbelievers will attend these local churches simply because of the tribal connection, therefore the Bible Academy and teachings of the Bible (those systematic doctrines) which, separate us Baptists from other denominations and or sects.

In the past forty-five days, I have worked through the the doctrine of the N.T. church up to the ordinances (Baptism & L.S) which, we are about to get into after the pastors return from their holiday break. I believe it would do well, for our people all over the world to renew their understanding of this great and important doctrine. Like my father used to say, and I say also (if one is off on the local church) many other doctrines they will be off also. The very word (church) in English has come to mean all sorts of things, however when one speaks different languages, translates, prepares the material and has to teach what was written in the ‘original languages’ then, and only then will the correct usage be understood.

A update on the new vehicle situation; I had security wire/ guards for the windows, and windscreen fabricated in AU to protect the glass from stones, rocks and other debris which, the PNG people often resort to during rioting, illegal-criminal road blocks, thugs, thieves, etc….

The work carried out was completed, the vehicle was driven to the wharf in Townsville, AU and loaded into a shipping container ready for sailing to PNG. I have managed to complete the AU side of things, payment made in full for that side, and waiting for the vessel to arrive in Lae, PNG.

I had communicated with a Customs clearing agent here in PNG from the time that I made the purchase of the vehicle, he agreed to help me clear the vehicle and in time all documentation was sent to him (David) his name, up until Thursday this past week.

He sent me an email, saying he was unable to continue helping me out, literally dropped the ball, and left me without recourse.

I immediately began to contact other clearing agents; however, I have not found anyone for certain at this point. The LORD knows all about this, it’s simply another delay by our great enemy (the devil). I am confident that God will help me, every step has been a challenge and struggle. Perhaps, one reading this could say, maybe it was not the LORD’S will to have the vehicle, then my question would be, why did the LORD raise the money? And why did the LORD keep that vehicle when others could have purchased, as the owner had refused two (cash) offers, before I arrived in Australia to test drive it?

There are many obstacles that come our way in the LORD’S work, if one thinks that its fair sailing, they have not long been on the field.

I want to thank each of you for your continued faithful support to me and this great work, without your participation, prayers, and support, I could not do what I do.

In His Name,

Missionary Peter Halliman
